June 2024 Update

Volunteers play a pivotal role in the success and impact of the Hummingbird Cancer Support Group.

As a community-based organisation, we rely heavily on the dedication and passion of our incredible volunteers to provide essential services to those affected by cancer. The importance of volunteers cannot be overstated. They bring diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives that enrich the support offered to people with cancer and their families. At Hummingbird, volunteers engage in various activities, from organising events and fundraising to offering emotional support and practical assistance.

One of the key support services we provide is our range of complementary therapies, including Reiki, Reflexology, Massage, Indian Head Massage, and Beauty treatments. These therapies, administered by qualified volunteers, help alleviate stress and promote relaxation for those affected by cancer. Additionally, the social support offered by volunteers creates a sense of community and belonging, which is vital for individuals navigating the often-isolating journey of cancer treatment.

Volunteers are the backbone of the Hummingbird Cancer Support Group. As it is Volunteer Week from June 3rd – 9th, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who volunteers their time. Their commitment and compassion make it possible for us to provide comprehensive support to people who are affected by cancer. Hummingbird sessions are held at South Mill Arts, Bishop’s Stortford, every Monday from 10:30-13:30.

Visit our website at hummingbirdcancersupport.org for more information.

May UPDATE

Hummingbird Cancer Support Group acknowledges the profound emotional and mental toll cancer has on individuals. Hence, we extend an array of therapies to aid our members through their treatment, including physical complementary treatments like Reiki, Reflexology, Massage, Indian Head Massage, and Beauty treatments.

These therapies deliver crucial physical support, fostering relaxation, mitigating pain, and enhancing overall well-being. For instance, Reiki, Reflexology, and Massage alleviate symptoms such as stress, fatigue, and discomfort, offering solace and respite.

Situated at South Mill Arts Centre, our group is run by local volunteer therapists. Our Monday sessions provide a friendly and hospitable setting for patients to access support close to home. Committed and professional our therapists ensure empathetic care and personalised support aligned with everyone’s needs and preferences.
